Don't Stop Believing...

Yesterday we started a week long vacation that hopefully will include a viewing of the Space Shuttle Discovery launch (some mechanical issues make that look doubtful), some time on the Florida coast and a trip to Disney. As we drove through Florence, SC yesterday we found a radio station playing Casey Kasem's countdown recorded in 1981. That brought back a few memories... like Barry Manilow, Olivia Newton John and one of my favorite bands - Journey. Two of my favorite Journey songs are Faithfully and Don't Stop Believing.

A few years ago were not a lot of fun. It was a couple of the toughest years of my life - 2006 and 2007. In 2006 my mom died after a short battle with brain cancer and from there it seemed like my business started unravelling. In 2007 it seemed like the entire mortgage industry was going to come unravelled. The details of these two years were in many cases very gruesome. I hated working and sometimes I hated life in general... however, these are the times when you have to put your poker face on (Lady Gaga was not in the 1981 countdown but I felt the need to include a modern day reference - :-).

When hard times come, you got to have the attitude of Don't Stop Believing! Don't stop believing in yourself and don't stop believing in the power that God has. The Bible says faith, without works, is dead. In other words... Believe First and then make your actions match your belief. He will not help those that are not interested in helping themselves.

Several years ago, it seemed like a week long vacation at a place like Disney was light-years away from reality. God, belief, hard work, discipline, a loving and supportive family, a great team at my office have made the next few days off available. So my message to you if you find yourself in a bad place... Don't Stop Believing! Don't forget to work too!
