Each day comes with lessons attached. Some are about life, money, family, God, etc... Here are a few deep thoughts (ok, not really deep) from a mortgage man (What is a mortgage man? A loan officer. :))

Love Christmas...
It is about 7am on Christmas morning. This is my favorite morning of the year. I love being the first one up and playing the role of Santa - making sure it appears the big guy showed up and found favor on my kids. I am waiting patiently downstairs to hear the thunder of feet rushing down the steps to see if Santa really heard what they wanted.
It makes me think that God may do the same with us sometimes... I wonder if He ever anxiously waits for us to open our eyes in the morning so we can see the blessings He has waiting for us for the day.
Thank you God for all of Your blessings!

Got Famine?
Genesis 42:1-2 - Remember the story of Joseph and his brothers? They sell him as a slave. Joseph ends up a dream teller for Pharoah and Pharoah puts him in charge of stewarding the blessings of food they received for 7 years so they could manage the 7 years of famine. People from all over went to Egypt to purchase food. Joseph's family, who had not seen for many years, were suffering from the famine. Verse 1 of chapter 42 says Jacob said to his sons, "Why are you staring at each other? Look, I have heard there's grain in Egypt. Go down there and buy some for us from there, so that we can stay alive."
It is easy when things are not going well to become paralyzed and do nothing; however, that does not change our situation. If we are in a land of famine and desire change, pray but then don't forget to take action. The New Testament says - Faith without action is dead.
In a famine? Look - there is an abundance out there! Go down there and get some!

Hanukkah Begins 12/21 at Sunset
Last year was the first year my family observed Hanukkah and it was very rewarding. We are very excited to observe it once again this year. It was quite a learning experience last year as we learned the importance of this Jewish holiday. Sadly I knew very little about the holiday. There are so many lessons in Hanukkah and I plan on posting some over the next few days. Why is it important? Isn't it just for Jews?
Here are a few things to think about:
Here are a few things to think about:
- Hanukkah is mentioned in the Gospels. John 10:22-23, you will find Jesus observing this festival. If Hanukkah matters to Jesus, shouldn't it matter to us?
- Hanukkah is an amazing story of religious persecution.
- Jesus talks about Hanukkah. Mark 13:13-16
- Hanukkah commemorates the dedication of God's Temple. Hanukkah means dedication. This festival is a remembrance of when the Jews rededicated the Temple to serve only Adonai. Scriputes say that we are God's Temple.
We still observe Christmas but it is a great blend to mix the time of year with Hanukkah and experience what our Saviour observed while He lived on earth.
